Why is the Durham Dental Hygiene Society an ODHA-only member society?
In the beginning, the DDHS Executive Team considered opening the DDHS to dental hygienists who are members of either the national association (CDHA) OR the provincial association (ODHA). However, after much discussion, it was decided that DDHS would be an ODHA-member only society for a number of reasons. Because health care is regulated provincially, we recognize and promote the importance of membership in our provincial professional association. In addition, being an ODHA member-only society facilitates open and bi-directional communication between DDHS members and the ODHA. As an added benefit of DDHS membership, we will be bringing any ODHA updates to members during our regular meetings. As you know, receiving such updates is a privilege available for those who are members of the ODHA, and it would be a disservice to active ODHA members to provide association-related information to non-members. The DDHS supports and promotes membership in both the provincial and national associations.
ODHA membership forms will be available at our first meeting and we will be happy to forward applications directly to the ODHA at that time.
ODHA staff will gladly answer any questions you may have about the benefits of ODHA membership. They can be reached at 1-800-315-ODHA or at info@odha.on.ca.
But don’t miss out on the DDHS early-bird registration – become a member of the ODHA today!
If you decide not to join the DDHS because of the ODHA membership requirement, please accept this invitation to join us for any of our special event seminars - open to all RDHs at the non-member fee.
